Think Before You Vote

Did you know that astronauts can vote from space? This has been happening since 1997. Astronauts make their selection in the PDFs of the paper ballots they’d receive in the mail and these are beamed back down to Earth. Click “Read more” to know the importance of thinking before voting.

An election is a formal group decision making process by which a population chooses an individual or multiple individuals to hold public office. It’s important to choose the candidate that is most suitable to the citizens. They must be able to please the citizens so the citizens can know that they don’t have to worry much about the decisions on that candidate. America just completed the 2020 Presidential Election in November. When it comes to the topic of immigrants Donald Trump came across as arrogant and intolerant. “If Donald Trump got picked he could’ve made immigrants move or something and my parents are immigrants.” said Daniel Guerrero Hernández, sophomore of Washington High School.

Winner of the 2020 election and President Elect Joe Biden’s plan for health care seems like a good idea for a lot of people according to articles. “Biden wants there to be free health care and charge rich people and seems like he will.” Daniel said. Trump on the other hand has spent the last four years trying to erase Obamacare, from American policy. Most of the citizens that don’t support Trump think he is a narcissist, racist and a bully. Also he continues to downplay the rising coronavirus pandemic — and continues to refuse to accept any responsibility for fighting it. “Trump says he will make America great again but really making it worse.” Daniel said.

Unlike Trump, Joe Biden has a plan. Biden will make a $2 trillion accelerated investment, with a plan to deploy those resources over his first term, setting us on an irreversible course to meet the ambitious climate progress that science demands. Trump on the other hand, didn’t do much to make America great. His actions are sometimes taken as racist and he seems to only nominate people who share his way of thinking for his cabinet.

The most fundamental principle in defining credible elections is that they must reflect the free expression of the will of the people? To achieve this, elections should be transparent, inclusive, and accountable, and there must be equitable opportunities to compete in the elections. If you want to make a difference for the future generations think and you your research. What are your feelings on the 2020 election? Comment below.
