Staying Clean In Quarantine

Stay Clean In Quarantine

"Things could always be better, but things could always be worse” -Marla Gibbs
Though COVID-19 is now a worldwide pandemic, Marla Gibbs' words definitely reign true. Formerly named “2019 novel (new) coronavirus”, COVID-19 was first found in Wuhan, China. The disease managed to spread across the world to over 80 countries. There are many thoughts about how the disease is spread. Click ‘Read More’ to learn about the study that suggests how COVID-19 is spread.

The coronavirus is affecting people all over the world. Many are getting laid off from their jobs, small businesses are struggling to stay afloat, and locations worldwide are in lockdown. Students, like me, must now attend online school and get used to the new change. Businesses deemed “essential” are risking the wellbeing of their workers by making them come to work everyday. Many countries, including the US, were not prepared for the pandemic.

We are not to blame for the start of the virus, but we are all responsible for how we choose to continue our everyday lives. If we are aware of the disease and how it is spread, we can do the best in our abilities to avoid it and stay safe.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “COVID-19 is thought to spread mainly through close contact from person-to-person in respiratory droplets from someone who is infected.” Though, other studies suggest more. The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) boosts the idea of air transmission. Harvey Fineberg wrote, though studies are not conclusive, “the results of available studies are consistent with aerosolization of viruses from normal breathing.”

Many things could happen, but in these times of change, people shouldn’t be in complete panic. Buying out toilet paper and hoarding hand sanitizer will not protect you from the virus. Listen to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s advice and instructions to stay safe. We can all do our own part to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In what ways are you protecting yourself from COVID-19?
