It's insane to think that the Chiefs have practically owned the AFC West for seven years. Patrick Mahomes is leading the Chiefs to a new dynasty.<span></span></span></p><a name='more'></a></span><p></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">The Kansas City Chiefs are 6-1 at this point in the season they face the Denver Broncos this coming Sunday. The Chiefs are rolling right now getting to their full potential early in the season but they have some issues. “I think what they need to work on is having Patrick get the ball out faster and get wide receiver Justyn Ross involved more,” Said Coach Cox, a Teacher and basketball coach at Washington High School. The offense needs to fix these issues quickly. </span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">In the upcoming weeks, the Kansas City Chiefs will have a tough road as they play the Dolphins, Eagles, and Bills. All of these teams are at their best right now and we know they will try and max out versus the Chiefs. “They have some tough competition coming up in the coming weeks and the Eagles and Bills are tough teams playing at their best level and Miami scored 70 points in a game so they have firepower,” Coach Cox said. There are a lot of great teams this year. Chiefs fans hope their team can keep up with the others. The whole team needs to play as a team and use the opportunities they are given.</span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">The rookies are playing exceptionally well and so are the second-year players. Rashee Rice is making a statement on the field. I also wanna see Felix Anudike-Uzomah play more. He's got a lot of potential too. “He’s not a rookie but I would say Justyn Ross because he has so much potential but the Chiefs don’t play him much and I believe they should,” Coach Cox said. </span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">The whole NFL has had a problem with the Refs and it’s to the point they're ruining a lot of games for some teams. They’ve been ruining calls for years and 2023 is no different. “They will never stop ruining games because they frankly get paid for doing their job and some fans just whine and cry when their team loses or wins for no reason so I don’t think some of these refs are making bad calls.” Coach Cox said, “Also these bandwagon fans are extra because that call in the game against the Jets was a hold and I don’t wanna hear any Jets fans complain about it.” The NFL officiating is just a hot mess this year.</span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">Patrick Mahomes is very accurate on his passes. I can see him passing at least 40 touchdowns this season. Travis Kelce is going to help with that a lot if he stays healthy. “I can see Patrick throwing 35-40 passing touchdowns and Pacheco running for 5-10 touchdowns this season,” Coach Cox said. The Chiefs are looking like themselves. I hope they can keep it up so they can make it far. Kansas City is always happy to see their home team make it to the playoffs.</span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">Chris Jones has been a beast out there since he’s ended his holdout. He has been showing that sometimes a player is so good they don’t need training camp. “I can see him getting probably 8-10 sacks this year because the defense hasn’t been getting to the Quarterback that easy,” Coach Cox said. The Chief's defense has been on a roll and keeping the offense in games if they are behind. Chris Jones and George Karlaftis are quite the duo. </span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">George Karlaftis is in his second year in the league and he’s already making a name for himself calling himself the Greek Freak. He’s been insane out there on the field causing havoc for Quarterbacks. “I can see him getting 5-8 sacks this season. He's not that guy quite yet, I’ll give him another year before he starts to get 10 sack seasons,” Coach Cox said. He plays the hardest position in my opinion because you have to stop the run and deal with offensive linemen shoving you away. </span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">The Chiefs are at the top of the AFC only time will tell to see where they will end up, at the end of the season. The AFC is stacked this year and will have tons of talent the Chiefs will have to get passed to repeat. Do you think the Chiefs will repeat as Super Bowl Champs? Let me know in the comments below.</span> </p><!--more--></span>Camron Smithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08683499207912437954noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6688148935831625223.post-91873123721803660772023-09-28T09:53:00.004-07:002023-09-29T06:46:37.665-07:00All Cap Week 1<p><span style="color: white; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><b><u style="background-color: black;">Rod’s Number 1</u></b></span></p><p><i style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><span style="background-color: black; color: white;">By: Cayden Her</span></i></p><span id="docs-internal-guid-5a0fff8e-7fff-5890-4e0b-1ef4fe056db9"><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><span style="background-color: black; border: none; color: white; display: inline-block; height: 365px; overflow: hidden; width: 365px;"><img height="365" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/VEYeyY4BIp9zqF27ub8fnW7WTF2KmpyhFZ4NTC_cF8JXrBJHc2kVUvxO-D0Xlf7-_k1UVBfi-AiUuZHPnnqfYsNuDtoRLCaQgKwevpg-IYhJOX8qqKPpbJO-wky1rnTuTsizKHZgoAr0jTUaegCR4Fk" style="margin-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px;" width="365" /></span></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><a href="https://www.revolt.tv/article/2023-09-18/326797/listen-to-rod-waves-new-album-nostalgia/" style="text-decoration-line: none;"><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; text-decoration-line: underline; text-decoration-skip-ink: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">revolttv</span></a><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;"> </span></span></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; color: white; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><br /></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; color: white; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">Rod Wave’s fifth studio album “Nostalgia” dropped on all platforms Friday, September 15, 2023. In the second week they faced the Harmon Hawks at home. The Wildcats started the game with the ball, the first couple of plays were a bit shaky but quarterback Ja’Quarey Williams scrambled for a 44 yard touchdown. That was the play that ultimately set the momentum for the Wildcats. As a defensive lineman I, Ja’Mon Stallings came out with the first tackle of the game, resorting in a 3 yard loss for the Hawks. Defensive end Ryan Edwards had a sack that forced the hawks to punt after 3 plays.</span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><span style="color: white;">The Hawks offense struggled early with everything resulting in either a tackle for loss or a sack. Going into the half the Wildcats were up 31-0 but still had a lot to work on. In the second half they came out with that spark that they were missing in the first half. Freshman Safety Nick Carter had a 32 yard fumble recovery that ended in a touchdown and 2 interceptions making him the state interception leader. Wideout Xavier Powell ended the game with 102 yards and 2 touchdowns. Sophomore Savion Stone racked up 2 touchdowns on the ground. Shon Williams, the sophomore linebacker, caught an interception and ran with it for 35 yards before being brought down.</span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><span style="color: white;">Although Harmon tried their best, they are now on a 7 year losing streak to the Wildcats dating back to 2016 and have not scored in the matchup since 2019. Street fighter 6 was the first to release on June 2nd and it made a big splash In the pro scene with old returning characters like Zangief, Cammy, and Ryu plus new ones like Jamie, Marissa, Lily and Luke. Almost every character from the past games made it into MK 1, but the major selling point is the new plot twist that has Liu Kang as a god who recreated the world for peace but it is still at war. Shang Tsung returns as the main villain of the story .</span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><span style="color: white;">If you thought those two games were enough, Tekken 8’s trailer dropped on September 11 and got almost 5,000,000 views in one day. This is caused by human activity involving burning fossils like coal, oil, and gas (to generate electricity for cars, planes, home etc), and converting land from forests to agriculture (raising livestock).</span></span></p><p><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><span style="color: white;">Burning fossil fuels generates greenhouse gas emissions, acting like a blanket and trapping the sun’s heat and rising temperatures. Agriculture leads to pesticides, fertilizers, marine ecosystems, and toxic chemicals that can poison fresh water.</span></span></p><p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">The continuation of climate change leads to more frequent droughts, storms, heat waves, rising sea levels, melting glaciers, warming oceans causing more harm towards animals, and wreaking havoc on people’s livelihoods and communities. An estimate of about 83 million people will die by 2100 due to climate change, and one third of animals and plants on Earth will be extinct by 2500. </span><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; white-space-collapse: preserve;">Climate change does not only affect our ecosystem but everyone and everything as a whole, including humans, animals, plants, and overall Earth. </span></span></p><p><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><span style="color: white;">Climate change can get better by 2030 if humans save electricity by changing the source of energy for homes and transportation. Walking, biking, switching to electric vehicles, reducing, recycling, reusing and repairing, can all help reduce emissions. Although some of those options may take time to develop and to be more effective, all it takes is determination to live in a more healthy environment for not just one person, but for everyone and everything on Earth. He has neutralized the threats and dangers and now is the protector of the new era. Kameos make their return in this installment. A kameo is an extra character that you can choose to help you in battle. So many characters are coming back from previous games such as Goro, Reptile, Smoke, Takeda and so many more. </span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 36pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><span style="color: white;">There is also new movement, such as quick dashing. New players may not know what quick dashing is, but more skilled and older players know quick dashing is a big part of how to get out of complex combos. With the new generation of consoles loading screens are also going to be a lot different. After choosing your characters and stages, the two characters will exchange words before battle. This creates a seamless translation so players' eyes will not leave the screen.</span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 36pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><span style="color: white;">In recent years many players have complained about crouch spamming. Everyone knows spamming crouches in a fighting game is the major way to taunt your opponent. In the new installment of Mortal Kombat when you crouch 4 times it will cause your character to start emoting, where you are vulnerable to hits. In MK11 and previous Mortal Kombats over head attacks were pretty much OP because there was really no way to high block. Now there is, high block is an all new feature to minimize overhead attacks that cause crazy amounts of damage.</span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 36pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><span style="color: white;">Will Lui Kang defeat the Unknown enemy or will he fall and need the others' help to overcome this big problem? The game was loud because the Chiefs have the loudest NFL stadium in the league. This game was a thrilling game to watch. There were a lot of miscues by the Chiefs resulting in the Lions winning 21- 20. Tight-end Travis Kelce didn’t play and was out with a hyperextended knee. Also, Chris Jones was in a suite watching the game unfold. Kadarius Toney had three drops, one of which resulted in a pick 6 by the Lions. </span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><span style="color: white;">The Kansas City Chiefs need to pay the players that deserve to be paid. It’s not enough just to pay Patrick Mahomes but they need to focus on the organization and give Patrick Mahomes the help he needs. Thankfully after a full game with no pass rush they re-signed Chris Jones. Now I would say they need to find an actual #1 receiver to pair with Mahomes and Kelce.</span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><span style="color: white;">The Detroit Lions on the other hand had an overall complete team. Jared Goff had amazing accuracy throwing for 253 yards and 1 passing touchdown. Aiden Hutchinson looked like a beast out there, always causing trouble for the Chief's offense rushing and hurrying Patrick Mahomes all game, he racked up 3 tackles and 1 assist. Amon St. Brown was scorching defenders all game he ended up with 71 yards and a touchdown. David Montgomery also had 21 carries, 74 yards, and 1 touchdown.</span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><span style="color: white;">Although the Chiefs didn’t look completely horrible in the opener, it’s clear that in their current state they need a bit of help to defend their title. The crowd, cheerleaders and coaches were all hype and ready to go. The Wildcats opened the game with the ball. Quarterback Ja’Quarey Williams Rushed for the inaugural touchdown after a great drive led by the push of the offensive line. They were battling back to back in the trenches which gave the Wildcats momentum and that clearly set the tone for the Wildcats Offensively.</span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">Center Devan Harris was a huge key factor to that Offensive Line. He racked up pancake after pancake and ultimately showed his dominance on the Field. On the Defensive side of the ball for the Wildcats, Defensive Lineman Ryan Edwards racked up 5 tackles. Freshman Safety Nick Carter recorded 2 interceptions and sophomore Shon Williams led the team in tackles ending up with 12. Click ‘Read More’ to learn about the students’ experience at one of Kansas City’s top media locations.</span></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black;"><span style="color: white;"></span></span></p><a name='more'></a></span><p></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="background-color: black; border: none; display: inline-block; height: 405px; overflow: hidden; width: 624px;"><span style="color: white;"><img height="405" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/oClHY-DdoWQJ0s0-__wViVAHxuM0Elt2j2LHnAiZGVHJoO50pIjm-VB-ToAy0PVw4diCGHWFesuIL0eiLNlMeg5SejiSXw9bX34iYGt--MNCarMgeT1FZpaFKiO-hvAUu8qcS4oJocC0PWxyZhFDoEo" style="margin-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px;" width="624" /></span></span></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="color: white;">To start off the field trip, the students were taken to dinner at Cinzettis, an Italian buffet in Overland Park. “We operate outside the normal. So the field trip had to be outside the normal.” Mr. Moses Wyatt explains. “What better way to start the field trip off than by our transportation being a chauffeur-driven limousine. Something most of the students had not experienced before.” Moses said. Field trips give students the chance to step away from the everyday lifestyle and gain different experiences and this by far was the perfect parallel. </span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="background-color: black; border: none; display: inline-block; height: 581px; overflow: hidden; width: 624px;"><span style="color: white;"><img height="581" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/5VrgS_5_9MoUt2iVWj-CEMJpBWUU4lpC4_XyYxGCfZsWXHASd1lpmUlbdghUdmzIP7bqHDzo9RppoZxZbwOwgH1w7xOBtjAUPIigSlgvC4va_TbwtJfLdpI-ZuBeBgkWR-Ltf5aQSMea9WntY1Dcn1s" style="margin-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px;" width="624" /></span></span></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="color: white;">After the dinner the students were taken to the Cumulus Media station. They were greeted at the entrance by Boogie D, a Disc Jockey for 107.3. We then went upstairs to one of the conference rooms for an introduction and quick Q&A. There the students picked the brains of multiple radio personalities. One of the premiere themes was always learning as much as you can for the field of your choice because there’s so many opportunities and you never know where you can end up. “All the students in attendance received exposure to a new experience”. Mr. Wyatt said. Most of the students in attendance explained that they had never looked into a future in the radio business. By the end of the field trip they had made connections, gotten endorsements and received exposure that began to shift their thinking.</span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="color: white;">Mr. Wyatt wanted to put the students in a situation where they felt special while learning about a new career, and as a student who went on the field trip he accomplished that goal. We got a ride in a limo, had a quality meal, and we got to meet some of greater Kansas City’s top radio personalities. As a student who attended you could feel the care that was taken in the planning of this field trip. We learned to keep pushing, and reach for more than just the status quo. </span></span></p><div><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></div>Camron Smithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08683499207912437954noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6688148935831625223.post-71620694643702289652023-02-07T06:37:00.001-08:002023-02-07T06:37:17.264-08:00Wildcats Hold Off The Hawks<p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"> <span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-style: italic; white-space: pre-wrap;">By: Matthew Maddox</span></span></p><span id="docs-internal-guid-2a43b911-7fff-1a3e-579b-2c79e588f096"><span style="color: white;"><div style="background-color: black;"><br /></div><p dir="ltr" style="background-color: black; line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="border: none; display: inline-block; height: 278px; overflow: hidden; width: 481px;"><img height="278" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/oIFmANofDvMSrTrr3Z9UwXzjKwhjaBTJGZaeAui_awIMTzFvev7TZAYlYhcqHAO7Y2rEIK3m-mkV7IOqadGZJ_UUCrjdFwAeFPA8CvGQ5wYzoEc2JDD5cZ_k5oiYqACoXRlYzM3gxTddpKQ5peFtedQ" style="margin-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px;" width="481" /><a href="https://www.youtube.com/@JegnaKlubTV" style="font-family: Times; font-size: medium; white-space: normal;">Jegna Klub TV</a></span></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">On February 4th, 2023 the Washington Wildcats faced the Harmon Hawks at </span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="background-color: black;">Washington High School. We came out dominating on defense and we attacked them and it got us in the lead” said Calil White the lone senior for the Wildcat basketball team. The Wildcats have a current record of 6-8 according to KSHSAA standings, but if they continue to perform the way they did on Friday night then we could see them coming up with a big finish this season.</span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="color: white;">The coaches on both teams seemed ready and focused on improving their skills following the big game. “My kids grow every day, we practice every day, definitely better than the last time we played Washington.” said Keith Richardson, the head coach of the Harmon Hawks. “I feel great they’re student-athletes [who are] always getting better,”. It’s awesome to see how the KCKPS Coaches keep a positive outlook on the growth of their programs. Both Washington (Coach Michael Green) and Harmon’s head coaches are KCKPS Alumni. “We will continue to get better, critique our mistakes, it's all about just getting better,” Coach Richardson said.</span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="color: white;">Both the Hawks and Wildcats are a part of the newly minted Meadowlark Conference. Currently Topeka-Highland Park holds the top spot at 13-0, followed by Atchison who sits at 13-1 with their only loss coming at the hands of Highland Park. However, it appears that the Washington Wildcats are starting to hit their stride. Do you think the Wildcats have a chance to upset the teams at the top of the conference in the coming weeks? There are different ways to cope with trauma but it’s a long journey. Click Here to read more about generational trauma and how it can affect not just you, but others. </span></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span></span><span></span></span></p><a name='more'></a></span><span style="color: white;"><br /></span><p></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="color: white;">When thinking about generational trauma, everyone has their own definition of it. "Generational trauma is a set of behaviors that are developed in certain situations, often leading to the victim becoming an abuser later on in life,” said Wayne, lifelong friend, and recovering victim. “Seeing traits in my parents and grandparents that have been passed down to me, and friends sharing similar experiences made me view it like that,” He has experienced generational trauma and is slowly figuring out how to cope with it. </span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="color: white;">This kind of trauma can show up in many different ways when growing up. Your parents or grandparents could have been abused, whether it be physically, mentally, sexually, or emotionally, and they could do the same with their kids. They could be so blinded by the fact that what they experienced was not normal, and could continue the cycle of violence. “Sexual abuse runs on both sides of my family. My biological mother, her father, and my biological father were all sexually abused growing up and I wasn’t spared of that experience.” Wayne said, “Being exposed to sexual abuse at seven made future relationships tough; it warped my perspective on what a “healthy” relationship was and made me put my values in places they didn’t belong.” </span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="color: white;">During the process of growing up, kids could think that violence and mistreatment are the norms and that can cause kids to repress their trauma and make their memory blurry. “Honestly, nothing was off the ordinary. I was too young to know that what was happening to me was wrong,” Wayne said, “It wasn’t until I was older that I could look back at my situation and realize that it was bad.” </span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="color: white;">When repressed trauma is uncovered, the emotions you have been building up and hiding can affect your mental health in many ways. Some people will go through manic/panic attacks or bad depressive episodes. “Throughout my childhood, I wasn’t aware of the impacts, but they’ve caught up with me recently. I’ve dealt with depressive episodes, and struggled with the way I view relationships.” Wayne said. This shows that not only does the victim suffer but also others around the said victim. So the cycle of violence continues and continues. </span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="color: white;">There are some excellent points in Wayne’s recovery story. He has been helped not just by his friends but by his adoptive mom too. “My adoptive mother and I had a sit-down where I explained how it has affected me. I opened up to her about my fears that I might end up like my father. She was very understanding. It was good to get it off my chest, to talk to someone about what I’ve been through.” He mentioned that it was the best decision he has ever made since his mental health got better after talking about it with someone. </span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="color: white;">When talking about generational trauma, it’s very important to talk about how it can not just affect you, but all kinds of relationships one can have. Depending on the person, the trauma can make them more vulnerable, more violent, or even quieter. In Wayne’s case, he was more sexual than he wanted to be. “Sex was looked at in a strange sensation like it was the key to a happy life. It bled into my relationships as an adult, causing me to be more sexual than I was comfortable with. Recently I’ve had to look into it, review where it started, and work from there. I’m still in the process of healing from it.” </span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="color: white;">As Wayne has mentioned, he is in the process of healing but he’s getting the hang of asking for help. “Having a good support group of people who will listen and do the same in return. People need to vent and I’ve found helping others through their stuff usually holds an answer or two for my stuff.” Wayne not only finds help in his friends listening to him but in also helping others. </span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="color: white;">Wayne is a very comical guy and extremely passionate about helping others. “Keep an open ear and an open mind, a lot of times that’s all people need.” As a man of few words, it’s not surprising that the most impactful thing he said was something so sweet, simple, and straight to the point. He’s made it clear that he cares about recovering while still caring for others. </span></span></p><span style="background-color: black; color: white;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: black; font-family: Cambria, serif; font-size: 14pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="color: white;">Generational trauma creeps up on most people and they don’t even realize it until they are adults. For some people, they can get therapy and get it treated, but for others, it’s not an option.
