Trump supporters attacked the Capitol on January 6th, 2021 in Washington, D.C. at the eastern end of the National Mall. They were attempting to stop the certifying of the Electoral College vote because they thought that the election was a fraud. Trump enraged his supporters using language such as, “This egregious assault on our democracy” and “walk down to the Capitol.”




Former President Doesn’t Attend Inauguration

Donald Trump and Melania Trump left the White House officially at 8:OO a.m. on Wednesday. Trump decided not to attend the inauguration. "Hopefully it’s not a long-term goodbye. We will see each other again," Trump said as he left the White House.

Riot Turned Terrorist Attack

On January 6th, 2021 rioters forcefully breached the U.S. capitol. Lives were lost and others were injured as they used brute force to over-power security. “We will never give up, we will never concede... We're going to walk down to the capital... Cause you’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength, you have to be strong.” said Trump at a rally before the attack.

Thousands of people gathered at the capitol while law makers where trying to certify electoral votes, on January 6th. This resulted in the death of five individuals (4 rioters and 1 officer), and parts of the capitol destroyed. Trump tweeted ”We will stop the steal.” Which many people think caused this.
