Swinging For The Fences

By: Shannon Kelly

On March 28, 2023 Washington High School and Harmon High School hosted a baseball game at the Barton-Ross Complex baseball field. Click ‘Read More’ to find out how it all played out.

The game started off a little rocky with both teams having nothing on the scoreboard after two innings. But the teams kept working and fighting as Washington scored their first run in the third but shortly after Harmon evened the score at one a piece. “We’re doing good by staying focused and making good connections,” said Ivan Hernadez, a Harmon Hawks baseball player. Harmon was really bringing the pressure.

As the game continued on though Washington started to pick up the pace and started to stretch out the game score wise. “We need to work on keeping the same effort all game” says Ivan Hernadez”. That was amazing perspective from one of Harmon’s captains after the Wildcats won the game 10-5.

Overall both teams left it all out there, and made their schools proud as they battled until the end.  There was talented play on both sides throughout and the future looks bright for KCKPS, baseball.
